Many years later Banasura came across the beautiful Kanyakumari, who happened to be an incarnation of Shakti. She was lost in tapasya when he was enamored by her beauty and attempted to abduct her. At having been disturbed during her penance by the despicable demon, she became furious and vanquished him in her primordial Parashakti form.
His story as the rejected suitor for goddess Shakti is present in Tamil Sangam literary works Manimekalai and Puranaanooru; Bhattavataar's Banasura Katha.
